Cottage under Suchy hill

Cottage under Suchy hill

Welcome fellow travelers! It´s Friday and Elvia Travel is back with a new article. Today we are going to talk about Cottage under Suchy hill – a mountain hut which is an attraction for many tourists, both during the summer and winter months. This cottage built in 1948 offers a wide range of services for its visitors and tourists.

Access to the cottage

Route from Varin

If we are talking about the difficulty of the route, Cottage under Suchy hill is not a difficult and demanding destination. As I mentioned in the beginning, the huge advantage is that you can get here at any time of the year. In summer, many people usually ride bikes here and in winter, people like to go ski-mountaineering.

There are several routes with tourist signs that lead to the cottage:

The route I have tried is the green route, which goes from Varin to the saddle of Brestov and Javorina. Then from here, you take the red route, which leads to the cottage. This route is one of the easiest ones, but it takes the longest. The journey will take you about 3 hours.

From my personal experience, I can say that if you decide to take this route during winter just like I did, it will be a little more difficult for you, because it can get very slippery on the way down. The entire hike took us 5 hours, which was a total of 18 km.

The other two routes lead from Nezbudska Lucka. The blue route, which is the less difficult one, leads directly to the cottage and will take you about 2 hours. A more difficult, but more interesting one is the red route. It will lead you to a cottage around Starhrad, where you can enjoy the view of the river Vah. This route will take you less than 3 hours.

Do you like going cycling? If you do, then I recommend taking the green cycle route, which is another way to the cottage.

What to do when you finally get there?

The cottage is open all year round, which guarantees that you will never leave hungry or thirsty. After a difficult hike, this is definitely a great place to repose yourself and enjoy the Slovak cuisine.

Tourists who have decided to spend more time in this area and are planning a longer trip will certainly not be disappointed. The cottage also offers accommodation, which you can find out more about on their official website.

Conclusion

I think each of us should visit this place at least once. Personally, I was there in the winter, so I cannot say what it looks like during summer, but I am definitely planning on visiting the cottage this year when it is nice and warm outside.
