Greetings to all of our readers! In today’s article, we will take a look at two tourist attractions, which are located in Terchova. These places are close to each other, so you can easily visit both of them on the same day.
Location of attractions
As I already mentioned, these places are located in a village called Terchova, which is approximately 20 kilometers from Zilina.
You can get there by bus, which leaves directly from the bus station in Zilina, or you can go by car. It is completely up to you which type of transport you choose. If you go by car, you can have a slight problem with parking and if you go by bus, you will have to walk for a little bit to get to your destination.
The statue of Juraj Janosik
Firstly, we will take a look at the statue of Juraj Janosik, which is located on a small hill and offers beautiful views of its surroundings. The journey to the statue is quite easy and short. It won’t take you more than a few minutes.
Juraj Janosik was a famous Slovak bandit, who is also considered to be one of the Slovak legends. It is said that he stole from the wealthy and gave to the poor. In the end, he was proven guilty for his actions and was sentenced to death by being hanged on a hook, which is located below the statue.
This majestic statue standing alone on its base, which was built in his honor, can also be seen from the distance as it is located on a hill. The views are truly stunning from any point.
The viewpoint Terchovske srdce (Terchova’s heart)
This viewpoint is located near the statue of Juraj Janosik. To be precise, it is on the opposite hill from the statue, so it offers a spectacular view not only of the statue but also of the entire village. Journey to the viewpoint isn’t very difficult, so everybody should be able to get all the way to the top without any issues. It won’t take you more than 30 minutes.
There are benches, tables and few small shops with souvenirs and refreshments. At the edge of the hill is the iconic Terchova´s heart, which is a really popular tourist spot.
The viewpoint has 4 floors and it offers amazing views of its surroundings. But even if you are scared of heights, you can still enjoy the view from the hill.
A trip that doesn’t cost a fortune
Both attractions are open nonstop and they are also for free. So, if you are looking for an interesting trip, that doesn’t cost a fortune, I would definitely recommend visiting Terchova. The only thing you will have to pay for is the transport.
I definitely recommend visiting these places. They are suitable for people of every age and nobody will leave Terchova feeling disappointed.
